Shift Supervisor – Ali Baba’s Kitchen


Location: Hamden

Job Type: Full-Time 35 - 40 hours

Reports To: General Manager


Job Summary


The Shift Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring smooth daily operations at Ali Baba’s Kitchen. This position oversees service quality, supports the customer service team, and ensures efficient workflow while maintaining inventory control, cash handling, and team coordination. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can balance customer interactions, task delegation, and problem-solving during shifts.


Key Responsibilities


Customer Service & Operations:

– Supervise front-of-house (FOH) operations, ensuring excellent customer service.

– Address and resolve customer concerns promptly to enhance guest experience.

– Monitor speed of service, order accuracy, and food quality throughout shifts.

– Assist in dividing work among customer service team members and step in when needed.

– Ensure dining area cleanliness and organization to maintain brand standards.


Team Leadership & Delegation:

– Support customer service team by delegating and balancing tasks efficiently.

– Lead by example by actively assisting in cashiering, expo, and food running when necessary.

– Provide real-time coaching and performance feedback to team members.

– Report cashier performance and team productivity to upper management for scheduling purposes.


Inventory & Cash Handling:

– Oversee stock levels for FOH and BOH, ensuring stations are properly stocked.

– Notify management of any inventory shortages to prevent service disruptions.

– Handle end-of-shift deposits, cash register operations, and financial accuracy.


Compliance & Safety:

– Ensure health, safety, and sanitation protocols are followed during shifts.

– Monitor adherence to company policies and operational procedures.

– Assist in maintaining compliance with food handling regulations.


Qualifications:

– Previous experience in a restaurant or food service leadership role preferred.

– Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support team members.

– Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.

– Comfortable handling cash deposits and financial reporting for shift closures.

– Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

– Must be available to work nights, weekends, and peak hours as needed.
